Drunkard's path -- help please

Actually, they do work really well. Just follow the instructions carefully esp iro the last couple of millimetres. A gadget worth buying, unlike some others (there's a nice new thread in there!!).

I have successfuly made 2" DPs with the Curvemaster.

I've bought one - but it's still in my drawer. I suppose I'm still at the stage of not believing it can possibly work. So, if you do get yours to work, I'd be glad to hear. I did buy the 'hooked' tweezers, as I could see the end bit of the seam was going to be a problem. I do

*want* it to work, though I have my major curved projects a few down the line. I understand you have to do a couple of practice pieces. . In message , Edward W. Thompson writes

My experience wasn't as good as Tutu's. On my Janome, the Curvemaster made a seam significantly bigger than 1/4". I emailed the company, and their only suggestion was to move the needle over every time I wanted to use it. (They never answered my question about if this one was made wrong, or if this is a common problem when using the foot on a Janome, nor would they take the foot back.) Moving the needle each time was a bigger pain than just learning to sew curves with my regular 1/4" foot, so I gave the thing away. :(

I'm with Kathy in the not impressed. Mine had the right 1/4 on my Janome, but I could get the exact same results with my 1/4 food or a little foot by doing the same sew a few and lift the foot to relieve the fabric technique. And my curvemaster broke really fast.... which added insult to injury.....

Ah! My machine is a Janome also. I thought they were made with Janomes in mind? as there have to be adaptors for some others. Thanks for pointing this out, Kathy. . In message , Kathy Applebaum writes

OK - I;ve got a Pfaff - so YMMV.

As far as after sales service, this is my experience.

The adaptor broke and I emailed them and they sent me a whole new set of adaptors (actually two sets because of South African Mail mix-ups), just on the strength of an email.

If the actual Curvemaster foot breaks, you have to return it to them for a replacement.

NAYY - give it a try.

My machine is a Janome and it works fine. Never had anything break so can't say what would happen about replacements, and the three CMFs I have get used in classes by relatively inexperienced sewers on Janomes, Berninas, Singers, Brothers and one Pfaff.

Sorry you had such problems Kathy. Did you buy direct from CM or through a retailer?

Must be a feature of Janome as my experience is the same. Easily overcome of course by simply adjusting the needle position.

Phew - needn't worry too much, yet, then! . In message , Cats writes

IIRC, it was direct, as my LQS didn't carry it.

Oh dear! I bought on line through a sewing store so I can't offer any help. I agree it is infuriating when a company will not support it's products. :-((
