Kellie.... there is this stuff on the market now, and holy cow - the name of it escapes me. But I know quite a few of us bought some, and it looks just like metal. However, you can cut it, sew it, wash it, etc, and the colors are just beautiful. I'm hoping Leslie sees this post, because I'm thinking maybe she bought some, and I think Kathy A. got some too, and Cheryl in Oz. Hopefully, one of them can come up with the name. It comes in a bunch of colors - coppers, silvers, golds, and it's beautiful. I'll see if I can find the name of it and make a post later.....

Just happened to be browsing (for the first time in some days! lol) - and the name is "ETAL". It comes in about A4 paper sized sheets and two doz (?) colours (gold, silver, copper, bronze, verdigre green, etc). I haven't used any yet but I am not sure I would wash it too often (probably not suited to everyday, drag-around-the-floor kids quilts). But it looks luscious for wall hangings, art quilts, postcards, etc.

Hi to all - I haven't been on-line much but I will get back up to speed. Hugs to all those who feel the need for a little Aussie comfort.

Kellie, I found the foiling papers at Bella Nonna.

I bought them a long time ago but sent them to a quilting friend in Finland who was doing all sorts of embellishing and dyeing.

She seems to love them because she has ordered twice since then.

Wow that's pretty! You can get stencil paint in metallic colors too, very easy to use. Roberta in D

THAT'S IT! I started looking and couldn't remember what the name of the stuff is. I have some (of course) but haven't used it (of course).

I missed this post yesterday (it's been two days of computer hell at work).

I've used the etal several times. It's non-woven, so it doesn't fray. It cuts and sews like a dream (but I wouldn't use the good scissors on it.) It's a bit stiff, so I'm only using it on art quilts, not snuggly quilts.

I haven't washed it yet, and may never need to do so, since it's art-quilt-only. But the stuff is FABULOUS.
