Fabric in the Fridge

A couple days ago, I sprayed some fabric with my trusty water spray bottle since it needed to be dampened before ironing. Then realizing that I wasn't going to have time to iron the fabric that day, I put it in the fridge in the garage. I was afraid I would forget it so I wrote a note to myself on the white board in the kitchen that said "Fabric in Fridge."

My granddaughter (25 years old) came to visit that evening. When she saw the "Fabric in Fridge" note, she gave me the funniest look. "Grandma, Frabic in the Fridge? Why do you have fabric in the fridge? You must have finally really lost it!"

I explained to her that I had done that for many years (probably 50 years at least) if I couldn't get to the ironing right away. Since she only irons one thing at a time when she needs it, the concept just didn't compute with her!

That's what they refer to as 'generation gap'! Too cute.

I seem to recall an online photo that showed an old (non-working) fridge that had been painted with some cute decorative motifs. It *was* the quilter's storage cabinet for her fabric stash. I liked the idea then and now you have improved on it! VBG

Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.- where being stored in the fridge sounds delightful since it's hot and humid today!

I have a special memory of "sprinkled" fabric that has been in the frig a day or two. Not a bad sour smell but a special smell.

Boy, Susan, does that bring back memories!!! That's also how I learned how to iron! ... and how my Mom got the stuff-to-iron ready. Part of my "job" too was to sprinkle and was I ever glad when the spray bottle was invented! (I still keep a spray bottle of water handy for when I get a stubborn wrinkle that won't steamiron out.) Thanks for the memories. ME-Judy
