Fabric Sale Alert/Joann's

I have no idea if this applies to all Joann's but today I followed the flyers into the Joann's in Ontario Oregon looking for a bolt of muslin advertised for $2.00/yard. Between the coupons and in store sale I ended up getting a 25 yard bold of it for .79/yard. I think the sale is going on until next weekend but I could be wrong. Since I've got a big dye order coming from Dharma next week it didn't take much to twist my arm for that and turn my attention to the $1.49/yard and $2.00/yard clearance material just laying around looking lonely so what else could I do except bring a great deal of it home? (I have no affiliation with Joann's)

I tried going into my not so local one and found it had way too much pot pourri, air freshener spray, scented candles burning, Glade plug-ins, and Air Wicks stinking up the place for me to stay long enough to even look at the fabric closest to the door before being forced to leave by the dizzying, headache inducing, stomach churning stench.

Last January there was no scent at all in the building, then in March the owner decided she wanted it to smell flowery, and it has snowballed from there. Despite many customer complaints, and two good workers quitting due to headaches, she has continued adding more overpowering scents to the building until the perfumes are now combining with each other and producing a new gruesome odor with a life of it's own. The horrible combination of clashing scents now smells like a drunk vomited on a French streetwalker.

There is nothing that would make it worth the migraine and nausea for me to shop there anymore. I don't know where I'll buy thread--the even-less-local quilt shops don't sell it--that leaves Wally World or online. Debra in VA See my quilts at

Have you thought of contacting Corporate and complaining? Here's a place to start, I'll bet the store is not supposed to have overpowering scents. There are just too many allergic people.
