JoAnn's website has a tendency to drive me nuts. I'm trying to buy some fabric, and I can't find any explanation of what a "unit" of fabric is. I assume it's a yard, and that the prices given are per yard. Can somebody here confirm this?

Never mind -- I think I figured it out, and I see that JoAnn sells the fabrics I'm looking at only in full yard increments, and that doesn't work for my purposes.
I was in a hurry to get an answer to my question because the last time I ordered from JoAnn the website dumped my shopping cart because I was moving too slowly. Grrrr.
Please forgive my typing tonight -- I appear to be going through a clumsy spell!

Have you tried their store in Mobile. If you can get the SKU number of the fabrics you want it wouldn't take but a phone call to see if its carried in their Mobile store.
Just a thought.

Kate, I didn't know there was a JoAnn in Mobile. Fact is, I avoid driving over there except to shop at Food Pak in Springhill. We call Mobile "the Evil City," and Pensacola "the Far East." But the next time I'm in Mobile, I'll check it out. The website is truly driving me nuts; I've got to stop wasting time on it.

Hi EP,
I've order as little as 1/4 yd from Fabric Depot. And Fabric.com will sell in 1/2 yds.
Best regards, Michelle in Nevada
Thanks for the tip, Michelle! Now if their shopping carts work properly, I'll be able to shop on-line.

I was actually looking for about a dozen fat quarters when I was defeated by JoAnn's website, to cut into pieces for the borders in a Welsh quilt. They were the kinds of prints I can't imagine using again -- chosen more for their value as dark, medium, and light accents than for the beauty of the design.

Jeanne,
It has to do with the way I quilt. While I think quilts that use the same fabrics in every block are beautiful, it would drive me nuts to make one. In my quilts, every block, even if the quilt is color controlled, is made of different fabrics. I recently started a quilt in which the predominant colors were purple, pink, and green. I had plenty of different greens since it's one of my favorites, but needed purples and pinks. I don't need a yard for one block; usually 1/4 yd will do.
Best regards, Michelle > i give up.
