Going forward...

Thank you everyone, for your hugs, advice and good thoughts. You have no idea how much it has helped me, and continues to help me... It's very quiet here. The only way I could get through such a silent flat was to put everything Sasha-related into the spare/sewing room and shut the door for a while. It's getting a bit better now. I can go in there and sew, and I'm slowly putting her things away, or giving things away. One thing I can't part with is the last quilt Sasha helped me with... I'm making a different one for the baby (who will never know). Once again, thank you group. I'm so glad we're here for each other.

Glad to hear you are coming round a bit, Jo. Don't forget, you were together a long time, through thick and thin. That takes a lot of grieving to start to get over. . In message , Johanna Gibson writes

I know your pain. It's so hard losing a pet. In due time your heart may open to a new pet. I still feel sad for Sasha and you, I was cleaning out my computer the other day and came across that iron on patch of Sasha. I'm so happy Alan and I made that for you. I always clipped a piece of fur and wrote a letter about the pet and cried...oh yes cried as I wrote it but it helped me get some closure. I would then put a picture of the pet in the envelope with the letter and the fur and the year we rec'd them and lost them. Pami

((HUGS)) Jo

After a time I put a picture of my Tuppy on my PC as a screen background. She is still there, watching over everything I do.

I do hope that one day you will find a new furry companion - not to replace Sasha but to enrich your life. They are all so special in their own ways.

I can totally understand Jo. Don't part with the quilt. I still have my very first one I made which was chewed on by ol' Tassie Jim (the binding is falling to bits but I haven't repaired it) and then loved to death by Merlot. I've washed it but bits of his fur (he would insist on sharing so much of his fur!) have stuck to it, and I think that's a sign that he's still around. The kids snuggle with it sometimes to remember.

I also have the quilts that I made for my nan and pop and gave them before they passed. When I snuggle I remember how happy they were and that they enjoyed the quilts too.

Quilts retain memories and have an ever expanding ability to hold more. They are special.
