Cat-themed blocks for Sasha

Hello Sasha fans! My lovely Siamese turned 13 on June 25th, and there are new photos of her in the Sasha album, at

I have bought a half-yard of brown Minkee, along with several shadesof brown and cream, and am planning a birthday quilt for her. I'dlike to put blocks on one side, Minkee on the other. The only block Ican think of so far is "Puss in the Corner". There must be othertraditional blocks with a cat-theme, but so far they are hiding fromme. Please help!

Well, other than regular pieced block patterns that look like a cat or the foundation pieced cat face pattern I use for my HUG blocks, all I can offer is some of my cat fabrics. I would be MORE than happy to share them with you, especially since it is for Sasha's b'day quilt AND she's Siamese and deserves ONLY the very best :-)!

Ummmm....

Cat and Mouse (just ran across it looking for another block) Cats Cradle Claws

Ermmmm...

How about something that would appeal to cats?

Swallows in the Window Ducks and Ducklings Spinning Tops Flying Bats

Tried to find an old block that Aunt Irene was fond of called Miss Mousie, could be that one of the other Aunts made it up for her because I could find no trace of it. But I did find this while I was looking:

On the bottom half of the page is a version where the bat is morphed into a mouse. The cat stays the same, but he is cute instead of Halloweeny on the mouse half of the page.

NightMist If there was a block called laser pointer it would be perfect

Sasha likes to be involved in all phases of quilt construction. I have a picture of her at the sewing machine, and it really does look like she's sewing. It's been a while since I made a quilt with a batt (been busy with denim/flannel quilts for a while) but I do believe she enjoyed sitting on that, yes. We'll see what she does when I get the batting out for these baby quilts I'm nearly ready to layer. You can tell she's feeling better, because she's not only been following me around all the time, she's been complaining about various things. Siamese have opinions and are not afraid to share!

She was very down in May and early June - just wanted to lie down and wasn't really eating. She became really skinny - probably the

4.5kg the vet has always wished she could be... but when I saw her hip bones for the first time and her haggered look I wasn't too happy. Then in mid-June she seemed to turn a corner. She seemed to accept the medicine routine for what it is - an unpleasantness twice a day that lasts about 5 minutes each time. She went back to eating her kibbles as well, which she had gone off, and usually accepts the fish treat/apology after each medicine session. So she was in good spirits and back over 5kg for her birthday. She might be a little fat according to the charts, but she's not bony, and she's happy. So I'm happy too.

not bony sounds healthy to me - like with people some desirable weights just don't look good on a cat. bust though is a happy healthy can no matter what the weight!
