Fantastic, Carole, i see nothing wrong with the applique at all. love the look of all the blocks side by side in just the two colours, great work. ya best not delete that pretty flower either. a bit of applique always softens the overall effect of a quilt. jeanne
I'm lovin' the purple, Carole. Those look great - the only problem is that I just realized that my good intentions to do this year's BOM have kind of gone by the wayside. I haven't even started!
Thanks! I figure I'll end up with at least 6 applique blocks used in the quilt no matter what, and maybe my technique will improve and I can at least cut the templates correctly! I'm making myself do the applique blocks this time since I usually avoid them. I figure I need to challenge myself. I have some other coordinating fabrics to use when the blocks require additional colors. They all are from a color scheme picked out by my sister-in-law. Eventually the quilt is for their master bedroom. They know not to hold their breath waiting on it.

No, I don't see any mistake because I don't know what the original pattern looked like. I see a flower that may have been done with true artistic license (planned or not) that will look great set on point with the big petal pointing down.
The only mistakes in applique involve unsuccessful applications of one fabric to another. Everything else is artistic license. Debra in VA See my quilts at

Nope. I don't think it's wonky at all. How many absolutely perfect flowers have you seen in real life?
I got side-tracked. My goodness what a dedicated QI. Your beautiful kitty just looks so very content. Polly

Carole, its not at all strange. that one petal got a wee bit blown out of alignment by that strong wind that came thru while you were sewing, thats all it is. just see'n it from a different angle. this is what i love bout flowers in applique, they're always a wee bit askew makes it easy to sew imo. i love yours, so stop fret'n bout it. jeanne

I can assure you they will be in the same color palette as the June blocks, though, although I do have more coordinating fabrics other than the ones I used in the June blocks. Maybe I'll get my head wrapped around applique by the time I finish this project.

No one will notice it unless you point it out. You might even forget about it yourself. Debra in VA See my quilts at
