Let me know if you've done one already in another year and I'll find another.

Pieced Lily pattern. ---- Ooops sorry didn't realize this was only

10" finish. I looked at the pattern and figured to make it to a 12" you'd need to adjust the pattern as follows:

Keep the center sashings to a 2.5" finish so cut these_ Patch C 2.5 x 5.5 Patch A square in center cut 2.5 inch square.

Then make the 4 lily patches to finish at 5" as follows:

Patch A cut 3" square x 4 in background Patch B cut 3.75" squares 2 of each of background and colour. Then cut across diagonal twice for quarter-square triangles - you'll have

16 in total.

Patch D cut 2 squares 5 +7/8ths inches. Before cutting diagonally follow instructions (below) for adding the triangles first then cut diagonally. (hope that makes sense) For the triangle patches(at the bottom of Patch D) I'd cut 3" squares and follow instructions as in McCalls pattern.

Then proceed to put the block together as per McCalls diagrams.

Hope this helps.... Elly

Glad to hear that!! I put Elly's revised measurements into a pdf file and put it on our website along with the block links. That way if someone comes late to the BOM, they'll have the revision also.

Thanks Carole! I'm glad it worked out okay. Can't wait to see them all, especially the applique..:) Have to find an applique suitable for November... I have a theme in mind. I'm looking for poppy pattern.

I've finished both the pieced and the paper-pieced blocks for October and I'm about halfway through with the appliquéd block. I have four petals and the center left to do on the full flower. So far, so good. I still don't have any silk thread, but I do have some on its way. Since there aren't any of those pesky inside angles, I'm managing to do this with Ami Simms' invisible applique technique and it's working pretty well. I'll take pictures when all three are done.
