Happy VD to me

I wuz my Valentine. I've know for quite a while that my beloved favorite 'go-to' sm was waaay past life expectancy. 20,000,000 stitches on her. Really. I studied what was available for months and rejected any that had embroidery abilities, didn't see anything useful about the 9mm stitch width and have never been excited about 3,000 decorative stitches. Decided the Bernina 550QE would be good for my needs. Found one with nearly no stitching mileage. What a joy. Nearly no difference in operating except this new darling has lights that would put a snazzy helicopter to shame. It is okay to love your quilting and love yourself. Did you get yourself a happy Valentine? Do it. Polly

Howdy! Many years ago, a prospective boyfriend baked a giant cookie for me, in the shape of the letters V&D. He presented the cookie to me on a round, pizza pan, "VD" was all it said. I let him know, quite sharply, that I did NOT have VD, had never been exposed, and wouldn't be taking that chance with him. He was suitably crushed. He continued to pursue me, but it was not to be. I still have the pizza pan.

Congrats on your new machine, Polly. Of course, you coulda' had a Janome, but, you always were strong-minded (I did not say "bull-headed"). ;-D

Escaped? and how! I only see one little problem with the new 550QE. Even with it set at its lowest speed, it won't run a bobbin slowly for me. OTOH, it will run one faster than the speed of light. No problem. I'll just run my slow bobbins on a different sm. Polly

Good idea! You just cannot rely on menfolk in these things. I really, really love my Bernina 440QE and love it more each day. My Valentine's treat was a trip & guided tour to a museum that was showing a Rubens exhibition. Quite nice, showed the painter as owner of a large picture manufacture with about

100 employees and diplomat in the times of the Thirty Years' War. Nice to see women as chubby as myself modelling in great art. ;-) And all the time DH took care of DD. I only saw her again when I rearranged her covers before going to bed myself. Bliss, sheer bliss! ;->

Anyway, have fun with your Bernina. Better than a bunch of roses or candy any time.

U. ;-) - I love the lights on them, too; all around the foot and almost daylight quality.

My poor White999 is beginning to die. I've had her for 32 years and she is a trooper. I do have my daughter's beginner Singer...ugh. I guess I'll have to bite the thimble and start looking for a new SM. As they say...nothing runs like a Bernina...runs away with your wallet...
