Help with fabric for As The Crow Flies

Normally I am not a green person....deep reds and blues with cream are more my style, but I have fallen in love with the Kansas City Star book As The Crow Flies. Now I find myself strangely attracted to those solid greens behind the crows and sunflowers. I have not found a similar shade in my lqs. Do these look familar to anyone? For some reason I am smitten with this quilt exactly the way it is.

Hi Paulette I'm not familiar with the book, but I do, I do, I DO love greens! Especially LIME greens. Go to

and look under the "greens" icon in their fabric shop. They have many. Also,

has some lovely, lovely greens. NAYY.

Good luck in your search!

Paulette, I can't find any images of that quilt. Can you post a link?

I am currently in Huntington, WV, on a conference (this is the western part of the state, near KY). I found a quilt store listed, but cannot actually FIND it and understand it may be closed. However, I did get a Tim Horton's fix while I was here.

Hi,

From the looks of the pattern, you might have some success querying shops like these:

I visited both on a shop hop recently but otherwise have no experience of them. They are both in Massachusetts. I'll bet there are other shops like them in most areas of the country. I will say that I liked the "feel" of the first (which coincidentally is called The Quilted Crow) better than the second.

Yep, definitely Civil War repro fabric ... though, and I can't remember per-sactly, couldn't it also be called a poison green?

*scratching head and trying to think*

I used to be BIG into the CW repros ... but my memory's gone ...

Once had a set of the Keepsake Quilting sample swatches, which included something like 200 solids. Lots of different greens. You could try emailing them and explaining it just the way you told us. Or any of the other rctq-tested quilt stores. Roberta in D

The most exciting thing happened!! Well, I found it exciting. I also posted my fabric dilemma to the Prim Applique group. To my amazement I got an email from Edie McGuinis herself!!!!! The fab was Sweet Potato Pie by Moda for the solid green which she said is not solid but a very tiny pattern.

Not only did I find the name of the fabric, but actually heard from the designer herself!!! How cool is that?

I have been reading this thread daily, to see if our grand team of fabric sleuths found the fabric for you. What a happy ending!! Have you found someplace to purchase the fabric? Congrats!
