When i sew it out on heavier fabric it looks fine. Can someone give me tips on the best way to sew on fabric that stretches?? How tight do you hoop the fabic? what kind of stablizers should i use??

i would use an iron-on (is that english?) stabilizer or something that you can glue with a spray-glue. after that you can hoop it. keep in mind that the material will still stretch everywhere excpt the embroidered part. this may cause strange effects when worn by big people. also keep in mind that the material may shrink when washed. your embroidery will look crumbled.

The way to embroider on knit fabrics is easy when you know how. You need a permenent knit interfacing to attach to the underside of the garment making sure that the stretch of the interfacing goes the opposite way to the stretch of the garment, this ensures that where you are going to embroider will not affect the garment. The next step is to use a sticky stabiliser in the hoop & place the garment on top of this, then use a water soluable stabiliser spraying the stabiliser with KK2000 & press on to the garment then you are ready to sew. Good luck it should work out fine.

I missed one thing off the last post, after you have pressed the knit fabric to the water soluble stabiliser insert into the machine & press Fix, on a husqvarna machine to baste the item in place, if you have another machine then you must obviously press the appropriate button, if you would like further information there is a very good article in Embroidery Journal on this subject in the Spring Issue.
