I bought a Juki off of a friend and am in the process of learning what I can do with a serger. I have always sewn on a sewing machine, so serging is very new to me. I am in the process of making a flannel shirt and debating whether to use the serger to sew the entire project or serge the edges and sew it with my regular sewing machine. Advice is needed here.
Sewing flannel with serger?

You can certainly use it for major construction seams, but you're not going to want it for buttonholes, topstitching and the like. I'd also recommend putting the collar and collarstand together with a sewing machine rather than a serger, at least until you get more experience.
I think you'll like how easily sleeves can go in with a serger.
