Quilt Too Short?

Jun 27, 2007 8 Replies

I was just admiring my finished Fun with Bricks quilt, (thank you Quiltville!) for a dear friend who'll turn 50 next month, and realized--DUH! What WAS I thinking? It measures 66 by 78. The 66 is okay, but 78???? Sheesh! I just as easily could have added another row of 12 inch blocks and come up with something actually useful. Too late now. Anyone else ever done this? Is there some explanation for that size other than that my brain wasn't plugged in--for months? It's all scraps so I can't claim I ran out of cloth...

Does long enough but not wide enough to cover a single non-anorexic person count?

It was a throw but ended up barely enough to toss! :)

There's just nothing you can do except send it to me; I'm little. Polly

it sounds just right for a snuggle/nap on the sofa quilt!

Gee, 78 inches is over 6 ft. long. Even if the friend is 6 ft. tall, chances are they wouldn't want to cover their face with the quilt??? Sounds like just about perfect to me..... snuggle time!

I haven't quite done that. I made a quilt for my sister for Christmas. It was looking SO pretty and I had plenty of fabric and one more row of blocks would make the overall pattern more symmetrical and I had time...

It is big enough to wrap a house!

That size is FINE, Amy. It will be a real generous sofa quilt, and will work as 'a little something extra' to pull up over the regular covers on cold nights. As to your question .... I made a quilt that is about 66 by

88 ... now THAT is really weird! PAT

Howdy!

I'm 5'2"-- I don't see a problem.

R/Sandy--w/ several lap and sofa quilts about that length.. ;-)

Awww ... it's just a humble Irish chain .... one of my first. :)

But I'm more than happy to make you some blocks of your choice ... :)
