HELP! with paper piecing

I am almost finished with the twelve blocks for my first quilt it is really turning out nice. I am working on my 11th block which is Indian Trail. I am working with templates and it just isn't working out for me. The finished block should be 121/2" It says to cut 4 squares 53/8" of different color fabric cut the square across in a diagonal an take two different colors and sew together with a 1/4" seam. Then us the triangle templates to cut triangles that when sewed together will make 11/2" I think they are called flying geese a row of three for one side the a row of three for the other side and a 11/2" square to fit in the corner. I guess I am not being exact enough but I know that this would be a very simple paper piecing pattern but I don't know how to make it into one. I could draw the finished design with the seam lines I just can't figure out how do you know what order to sew each piece in so all the raw edges are sewn. then I need to put four squares together to end up with a 121/2 " block. Can anyone understand what I am trying to do and can you help me?

Thanks, Sheila
