The clunky looking feet on the 6600 is a big turn off for me too especially since I like to sew with 1/4" presser feet as much as I can. ..My first SM was a SS Singer ..which my dd still has--I loved that machine ! Mary
I often wonder just how much longer my 930 will last ! There is a Bernina Thirty Somethings group on Yahoo for people with any Bernina such as an 830, 930, etc. with some good info if anyone needs it. Mary
Me? I'm going to steal DH's 1030, that's what!! LOL But seriously, if I haven't worn mine out by now, I doubt that anyone can. I bought it new in 1981 or 82, just after youngest DS was born. I made all my clothes, the son's clothes and suits and shirts for the DH on it, and I've been using it for piecing and quilting for the last 5 years, as well as clothing. She's been to the shop for maintenance twice in that time, and never gives me a moment's trouble unless I'm dumb enough to try to use cheap thread or a dull needle.

Or are you talking about the "square sewn-out zigzag" (what MSM called it). It's number 4 on the selector. I wish the Phaff would do that stitch as well. DH's 1030 does it as well.
We quietly acknowledge that I have a Bernina foot fetish and don't mention it in public. I've just discovered a Bernina foot that I love. It's a #13. It has a skinny toe on the right hand side and a tiny hole where the needle goes through, very much like the old, old Singers where we learned to sew. I don't like plastic feet and have never been pleased with any that have a flange on them. Just give me the #13 and I'm happy as a clam. Polly
