just checking in

Have been quiet for a bit...this time it's the health of the pets that has been taking my attention. Brady needed a lump removed...he's still wearing an inflatable collar and a butchered t-shirt to protect the staples and keep him from licking at them. Shadow has a heart murmur and they ran blood work, and Seymour is still a kitten and isn't "talking" to me right now because he needed 2 shots yesterday...phew

HOWEVER....I have started on Bek's quilt....she had trouble deciding between pink and purple when asked her favorite color, so that delayed us a bit. She finally decided on pink, so I will be using that as the sashing as well as in the blocks (small amount in the blocks). Not really sure if the block has a name...I just started playing around with the fabrics. Once I get more than 2 done, I will try to get pics and a link up. It has a large square of the print fabric (which has the pink, purple, and blue), purple strips, and a smaller blue square....not explaining it well, I know....she wnts me to do something with flowers, so I'm thinking that I will use more of the pink and make 3-d flowers to scatter in the purple strips....just a thought right now....want to see what it looks like when I actually ahve a row or 2 done.

Started working on replenishing my business inventory....then had to deal with a bit of a mental argument...business brain confronting creative brain and all that sort of stuff.

Other than that...SSDD...took kids to swimming lessons - bek passed beginners, tom didn't (he wouldn't listen to the instructor when she was telling him how to kick)....we are plugging away at summer school

- hoping to be done next week or so because they are anxious to get back to home ec lessons (in fact, Tom is going to teach Bek how to do scrambled eggs tonight for dinner!)...but they REALLY want access to the 20yo Kenmore...lol

Hope everyone is having a good and productive summer

Busy lady! Looking forward to see Bek's quilt, sound wonderful so far! Sorry about your pet problems, and all at once, too. ugh. Sounds like your summer plans with your kids are going well. Oh, and - which brain won the argument?

LOL actually there was a compromise....found what the business brain was leaning towards, but the creative brain still gets exercise in making the final item. Wanted to make hanging dishtowels...at the time, I only found white towels with 1 stripe of color. Hubby asked if I was going to make all white since they would get dirty...that's what started the debate. Business brain went into "what if the whites don't sell, need to find colored towels...blahblahblah". Creative brain was saying "of course they'll sell, why wouldn't they...maybe there are colored dishtowels out there...". So, I was lucky to find black, red, blue, tan, and green towels - not bundled like the original white ones were, but separate, so I only bought one of each color. It's all good.

The pet stuff continues as we got Shadow's blood work back...he probably won't be with us much longer as he has developed kidney disease. He is currently in stage 1, and the vet suggested a dietary change, but if the cat won't eat canned food if it doesn't have chunks, I don't see him switching foods easily at all...so....hoping it will be once the children are back at school, but not sure how long he is going to last...he's doing the disappear for the entire day thing like Nugget was doing this time, last year. So...yeah....all at once does not make for a good summer for me.

I'm going to go through the quilting books that I was looking through to see if I can find the block that I think is what I'm doing....make sense?? LOL I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, but I'd swear it's the block I'm doing...who knows...maybe my brain is fried and I've never seen this block before....but, will try to get at least one row done and get a pic up...right now, there's an awful lot of pink on my wall and it is making me a little antsy...pink and i do NOT get along..but if Bek likes it....

I'm exhausted just reading about all your activity! Young kids keep life exciting, sometimes terrifying. Sounds like you've got it under control, though. Good on you for having the kids in the pool, learning to swim. I totally approve. And you have all my sympathy for your poor sick kitty. We love them so much and that makes losing them all but unbearable. I will keep a good thought out that the little guy adapts to the new food and stays with your for longer than you expect. You just never know, sometimes they pull out of a decline.

Good luck with all that pink...I do understand about not playing well with that color. It always seems a bit too sweet to me, and too loud at the same time. But you're right. If the girl loves it, then it's the right thing to do.

Hang in there. It sounds like you are doing great and that's good to hear.

Hugs, Sunny
