Kind of OT, embroidery xmas gifts/stocking stuffers?

Hi all,

My Mom has been quilting for many, many years. She recently bought a Bernina and is in Love with embroidery. She's combining it with piecing and loving it and making some beautiful projects.

I'd love to fill her stocking with fun little quilting and embroidery gadgets. I'm not familiar with machine embroidery so I thought I'd ask those of you who are..what those gadgets might be!

Actually, it would be fun to hear what fun quilting things you all would like to see in your stockings (or as a miscellaneous little gift if you don't celebrate xmas!) to brainstorm!

Thread, dear Steph, **thread**. Machine embroidery eats up enormous amounts of thread. Hopefully, the embroiderers here will tell you which brands/sizes Bernina likes. (Berninas are wonderful but they don't like no junk.) And needles. Some of the grand threads need particular needles such as micro this and that. Wonderful colors, variegated, metallic, silk, rayon. Stabilizers - probably one for beneath and maybe a Solvy or something for on top? Scissors. Dainty fine-bladed curved ones for pokeys. And something wonderful to embroider upon. Bibs? Linen very special guest towels? A collar for a much-loved preferably rotten QI? Thank you for asking. I'd love to have a Mom to find special gifts for. Polly

Dear Polly,

May I apply for the position?

I don't have a Bernina....will Pfoebe Pffaf be ok as a instead of?

I have plenty of practice being Mom II and would love to apply for the position once more.

505 spray basting. I never hoop my fabric. Spray the stabilizer with 505, lay the fabric on and embroider. You can't go wrong with Superior's thread--go their web site and check it out. Stabilizer--cut-a-way: tear-a-way, water soluble. Embroidery needles-I buy all my needles when Joanns has the notion wall 50% off. Extra hoop in the size she uses most. That way she can hoop while embroidering is in process. I don't know if Berninas take the pre-wound bobbins, but I can't live without mine. Gen

I agree with what everyone else said--thread (I have a Bernina and I use Isacord thread without problems), stabilizers, 505 spray.
