Look what I can do!

My piecing is getting better! Behold the purple and green baby quilt, with mostly matching corners! It's for my friend Kelly, who graduates in from vet school May, and has her first baby in August. Her DH is also a veterinarian but Kelly has a special interest in zoo animals, so I included them in the quilt. It could be a "What Does This Animal Say?" game when the baby gets older! Hopefully the links will work... The whole quilt

It's wonderful! :) I love purple and green together. Very pretty, and a cool idea, re: the animal pictures, too. :)

Thanks everybody. They know the baby is a girl (to be named Michaela, just because they think it's pretty, which it is!) but Kelly even said they aren't doing the whole PINK thing because Kelly isn't particularly girly herself (wrestling with bald eagles and tapirs isn't exactly girly, true). So I picked a couple of colors I liked, I'm pretty sure Kelly likes (they mentioned the baby's room would probably be painted green) so I ran with it. The back is pieced of lots of old extra nine patches I had made up, with some filler strips to make it all match. Turns out the fabric I bought for the backing I'm not even going to use at all. Ready for the next baby quilt that comes along.

Your matching is VERY nice- good for you! Purple and green are my two farvorite colors, so I love that as well. You were very clever to incorporate the animals- that makes the quilt educational as well as warm and snuggly and full of love. You did good all the way around- colors, construction and something to interest the baby when she begins exploring and talking. YAY!!!
