Roll Call: What did you do "quilty" today?

I didn't get any sewing done... but did receive a special goody in the mail! Nancy's Notions had advertised a great deal on thread with a nice storage case AND a sewing machine travel case. I splurged. It came today. I am so excited!

I hope to get back to work on the DWR tomorrow.

Friday I bought fabric to be ready to jump right in on joining my guild BOM's from last year (need the top assembled by our November meeting). That will be a simple sashing -- 3 narrow rows of fabric (dark purple on the outside - white in the middle) with 9 patches in the cornerstones. You can see the EQ version in my webshots folder. All 24 blocks are finished. It is just the sashing I need to complete.

So hopefully by this time next week... the notorious DWR will be on its way to the long arm quilter in Minnesota... and the Purple/White BOM will be ready to go when I get the DWR back!

I finished cutting out the last (I hope) of the non-blue triangles for my 1000 Pyramids take along project. Also, I pieced the back for a flannel YBR. The back and top are now waiting patiently for me to pin baste them--maybe tomorrow?

I took a member's workshop through the guild. Each October, since that is the month we give the outgoing President her quilt, we do not have a speaker so members offer classes. I took a class on making these really cute purses. I am not a sewer, only a quilter and was amazed at how well I did. I will post the pictures tomorrow or so on my Webshots when I am awake to trust myself not to drop my camera.

Nothing quilty today; but I did fix my DS's jeans (3 pairs), using the omnimotion darning stitches on my Viking 1+. I never thought I'd enjoy patching jeans, but that machine makes it easy and fun. A little later I tried my first embroidering on some 'test' hand towels. Now that is going to require some practice....

I cut out thread catchers and even worked on sewing some that were already cut out. I also sewed the binding on a quilt I make every very as a donation to a cat rescue group. The raffle it off and last years quilt made close to 500.00 for them. I was pleased. So all in all a good day.

I'm working on a WH with all sorts of different shoes on it for one of my friends who is lovingly nicknamed "the shoe queen". Her birthday is later this month. Almost done - it's been a fun project.

well on your today ( my yesterday): I attacked the monster quilt for a while, plotted my quilted waistcoat, designed a quilt = 12 variations of one, while plotting what I can do for next years bout of insanity aka entering the next years European quilt championships

today I must finish quilting the monster quilt - just a bit of border left :-D and trim the quilt and join the binding strips I cut when I cut out the quilt and make the sleeve. hopefully I can sew the binding on so I will have all day tomorrow to handsew the yards and yards of binding down

tired yet? LOL

I looked at my sewing room longingly. Between 8 hours a day of lecture and lab and hours of studying at night and on the weekends I haven't done much of anything quilty in weeks. :o( Five weeks down, five to go.

I went to the Concord (MA) Piecemakers quilters yard sale. For $6, I came home with a grocery bag full of exciting scraps, squares and even a full yard piece. Now, all I need to do is start sewing.

Saturday: went to a flea market and bought a very nice old flannel sheet that will make a great batt. Did some quilting (machine) on a double

9-patch. Received 6 blocks for the Friendship Quilt! Sunday (today): went to another flea market and found 3 meters of Swiss shirting-weight cotton, blissful hand, in eye-popping woven checks. (Got batting, got backing...) Did some more quilting on the double 9-patch. Embroidered the face of the BOM kitty. Roberta in D

I am working on an embroidered letter character quilt for my grand-niece. I am also still in the middle of bear-claw quilt for myself, which always gets pushed off for another project. My husband has asked me to try to take in his pants because HE LOST 55 lbs on MY DIET!

Does dreaming count? While reorganizing boxes in the garage I came across a couple labelled "Cotton Scraps For Quilting" These boxes contain bit of fabrics and old clothes that at one time I thought should go into a quilt. We are talking 25-30 year old scraps! I still don't have time to go thru them, so back into the storage pile they went. Seeing the boxes did start the dreaming process tho. I also spent my last minutes before falling into exhausted sleep flipping through a quilting mag and reminding myself to check for the new ones when I go to town today. My daughter has just moved back in, and she sews! Between us we have redone my sewing to make room for her stuff! Huge feat! But it is done now. We just have to finish moving all her other stuff that we have no room for in the house. Hence the garage reorganization. We have to have her stuff moved and the house she was in, cleaned out by the end of the month. By that time the outside work will be done cause we should be covered in snow by then. I'm hoping that means quilting time for me! DD doesn't quilt much, she is into fashion, but she has a great eye for color!

Hope some of you are getting some actual quilting time in.

Marilyn in starting to rain Alberta forecast for snow overnight!
