Me too - squished, that is!

I want to thank the very anonymous lovely person who sent me a birthday squishy. It is beautiful! I'm going to be **gasp** 50 in the next week or so. This gift helped soften the blow!

Thanks again...........

I know, I know.........

My favorite saying is: "the older I get, the younger old people look"!

They say 50 is the new 30. I like that!

I hit that one next year.... but think of it this way....

At 50 -- you are TWICE as good as you were at 25!!!

Happy Birthday!

no no 50 is NOT a **gasp** event; it is for a celebration. we americans do this wrong too. we mourn these days. Swedes make a big deal of birthdays with 0s and after 70, also ones with 5s. They [or family :)] puts picture in the newspapers and people come to the house with flowers or maybe gifts. cake and beverages are served and people sing. great event. often at 90, the celebration is at church and the whole parish joins in.

so don't mourn ... celebrate!

(in swedish) på svenska:

Grattis på födelsedagen! Hip, hip, hurah hurah hurah hurah!!!

..... another way of thinking about it -- you'll be 20 with 30 years of experience!

What a wonderful way to do it! I haven't had any problems with 30, 40, or 50 so far -- each one led me closer to another wonderful event in my life. I retired at 52, so turning 50 just meant I was closer to retirement! DH just turned 60 (I'll do the same in a couple of years), and that's sort of a shock, but it hasn't changed how we feel, so that's fine. :)

Oh yes, Germans too. It is referred to as "I am zeros this year" or "Ich bin nullen dieses Jahr." And it is a really big deal, so celebrate for at least a week or longer!!!

And I am zeros too this year, but a decade ahead of Laurie G :-). I got a tattoo for my 60th birthday gift to myself ;-)

LOL! I never have to tell DH what I want for my birthday anymore. He always gives me part of the money toward going to quilt camp. :D
