Not only am I sneaky, but also devious and manipulative. They were career assets. That aside, I think you might consider buying a drafting table. Mine will adjust from anywhere from 25" from the floor up to comfortable for stitching while standing if you take a notion to do that. A drafting table will sit level or you can tilt the table if you like. I didn't like. Thank you for the review of the Pfaff 130. I really was curious. Polly

Mostly use my Bernina Artista 200 but also pull out the 180 when using the embroidery module on the 200.

Hi Polly, my Mom in Pensacola has a 1230 and loves it! She came to visit for a couple of weeks recently and we packed up the 1230 so she could do some sewing while she was here. She pieced and appliqued two small flip-flop quilts for Christmas gifts in about a week!!

I have a Viking Designer 2. I bought my first Viking in 1977 & have never owned anything else since. I've test driven several others at various stores & events and always come back to the Viking. Traded up through the years - this is my 5th Viking. This one will probably last me the rest of my life. I said that with the one before, but when they came out with the sensor foot, the automatic scissors, etc., etc., I just had to have the Designer 2! I actually have the honor of buying the first Designer 2 sold in the northwest according to my dealer.

Certainly!! My most used SM is Pfilomina Pfaff. I also share my home with Isaac F.W. Singer (Ike for short), Miss June White, a White treadle in a very cool cabinet, Madame X (a treadle who has refused to reveal her name), Valentine Singer (a 410 I think, acquired on Feb.

14) and a S> And David thinks I'm crazy for naming my machines. But I bet lots of us here > have.

Darling Polly, if I make me a drafting table I will likely use it for drafting. *chuckle* We did scoot down to the as-is-in-the-box room at the Bush factory outlet store, (the factory is right here in town) and picked up a couple of things. A conference table to replace our cobbled together mess of tables in the kitchen, and a new computer center for the computer in the library (at our house we call a spade a spade, so the room with a few thousand books in it is not the living room it is the library). So, I am going to be relegating the table I multitask on to just artwork, snag the one kitchen table that is in good shape for sewing, and likewise snatch the old computer table. The old computer table looks very likely for my purposes. It is one of those simple L shaped things with a hole in the corner for cords, and just about the same height as the sewing machine cabinets. Slap a little contact paper or a sheet of 1/8" masonite on top to cover the scratches, and I should have a good workable machine table out of it.

NightMist less than $100 for both new units and the worst damage is a couple of pack>Not only am I sneaky, but also devious and manipulative. They were career >assets.

What I did re: tables was went to home depot and bought about $200 worth of wood.

2, 4x8 sheets of particle board cut down to 4x6 for the table top. A bunch of 12"x6' mdf shelving and a few sheets of 4x8 1/4" hardboard for the back of the bookshelf units.

So my table top is made of 2 sheets of particle board to give me an

8'x6' table and I used the MDF to build 6 bookshelf type units, 3' wide and 36" tall, 2 under each side of the table and 1 under each end. The bookshelf units under the table serve as my stash storage. I have my machine quilting frame on one side of the table which takes up pretty much half the table, on the other side I have my 2 machines lowered into the table so that they are level with the surface and give me a flat area for quilting and piecing.

The table takes up a lot of room but it serves as my all in one sewing station and we have it in the basement which is otherwise used only for junk and laundry.

This one 8'x6' table houses my stash, ufo's, wip's and some assorted garment fabric and fleeces, 2 sewing machines, a serger, a 10' machine quilting frame (it hangs off the end a little ;) ), my 20"x32" cutting mat, my laptop, and my coffee!

Well worth the $200 spent to get exactly what I wanted!

I also had to buy a drafting chair so I could sit higher at the sewing machine because the table is so high, I can adjust the height wherever I feel comfortable that day and for whatever I am doing.

I still use my Singer Touch and Sew my dad bought for me when I entered 8th grade Home Ec...(yes I am old) model #648. My dad knew that was my talent then and made that investment for me. My machine still works but my zig zag is jammed up. When I came down with breast cancer I thought of buying a new machine next year and I might go with a Phaf/Quilter's Expression. It all depends on how good Uncle Sam is to us. I still however would never get rid of my old machine. I need bobbins for my old machine so if anybody has one they don't use or it broke...I can use the bobbins. They are often hard to get. Pami

Somebody gave us an old drafting table made of wood and I never thought of it like that. It's in my garage now looking for a home. I took it because I thought my son would want it. Pami

Oh, I leave that thing engaged *all* the time. It's wonderful. The bobbin thread snarls after a block or two. That's why I thought she might be bored.

Why choose the 630 instead of the 640? Are purchase price savings available by getting quotes from more than one dealer?
