Most used machine

What sewing machine do you use the most? I use a '79 or so model White ESP that was given to me. My cheap Wal-Mart Brother was a waste of money. I also have a Singer Merritt that sits in it's cabinet in the hall and hasn't been used for about 3 years.

great question Mary. It is between 2 here. My Bernina 930 is probably tops with the Brother PQ1500 close behind. Grandma's Featherweight and a wonderful 301 are right behind.

That Singer Merritt cabinet would probably hold a great old Singer 201 or 15 that are terrific for machine quilting on.

I will definitely keep the cabinet if only for decorative value because it came from an elderly friend that had to sell off her belongings when she moved with her daughter a few years ago. Hopefully one of these years I will be able to get an old Singer for the cabinet.

Pfaff 1229, bought new almost 20 years ago.....what a workhorse that machine has been. Have my Grandmothers old White sewing machine in the cabinet.....it's from the 30's, after a good cleaning and oiling it ran beautifully. And then a Singer 99k, won on E-bay a few years back, had to have it. Brought back memories of when I learned to sew.

My Pfaff 2056. It gets used everyday - piecing, quilting and craft sewing. On the very rare occasion....mending. It is an awesome machine, not cheap, but worth every $$$$!

It's a Singer 15-91. It was my mom's. Of course, it really isn't good for anything except sewing a straight seam, but for that you can't beat it. I bought a Euro-Pro with all the decorative stitches and attachments, but it never seems to get taken out of the closet.

I use a Janome 9000, it has a program in itself for quilting and a kneehandle (so yo can use two hands on the fabric) and yesterday I got a designprogram for quilting, I didn't inspect it yet....I was handquilting:)

I have over 70 machines almost all vintage...including two treadles, but the one that gets used every day is my 6-yr old Viking 1+. =20

I pretty much use my two Berninas equally. One is a 1090 that I wouldn't trade for anything and the other is a 180E (updated to the latest software). Both have their specialty.

Well, it seems that I've been using the Singer 401 for most sewing. When I need an evenfeed, I use the Singer 15-91, that way I don't have to keep changing the feet, just scoot the chair to the other machine.

Hands down, my Singer Featherweight. What a joy it is! I use it for piecing and light quilting. When it comes time for serious quilting on a big quilt, I use my Singer 301.

Lately, I have been using a Singer 500A. I also have the 301, 401, and some very nice Kenmore machines. I like the feed dogs to drop rather than the needle plate to rise, but both systems work for me.

I haven't even counted the machines I have acquired over the last few years, but they are all older (like me!) and are workhorses.

Hello, my name is Polly Esther and I am set in my ways. I had to drag myself kicking and screaming away from the Bernina 1230 and force me to use the Bernina 155. . So much easier to use the old familiar instead of learning a new SM. The 1230 has a million miles on her and I really did have to peel my cold fingers away from her and force me to grow accustomed to the little differences in the two. I would love to play with the old Pfaff 130 that's supposed to stitch several layers of denim without pause and! the new Pfaff with the fabric mover and stitch regulator. Has anyone made friends with either of these? Polly

My Viking Lily!!! But I also like my little Janome Jem, my Viking Serger, and my Brother embroidery machine. They all get used, but Lily is the main machine.

The machine I use the most is my Bernina 810. Wonderful little work horse, and I just love her to death. Her name is Miss 'Nina.

If I had the money I would definitely like to try a machine with a stitch regulator. I think my ability to free motion quilt would greatly improve - it's so bad now that anything would be an improvement.

I have an Elna Quilter's Dream. I love it. I also have a Singer 401 that I bought on a garage sale a year or so ago for $7. It's a good backup machine -- also works well for machine quilting because it's got a bit more space under the arm than my Elna.
