Wenco Sewing Machine

In the early 1980s I bought a used sewing machine bearing the Wenco name. I'm guessing it was made in the 1950s. I've been searching for a manual for it but haven't even found a reference to Wenco sewing machines.

So, have you got a Wenco? If so, do you have the manual? If so, any chance you could scan it for me (we can dicker about the fee)?

There wasn't a manufacturer by that name, but it was very common for retailers to have their company name badged on a machine produced elsewhere. Sears does this with their Kenmore and Craftsman labels. As I've heard it said, "Sears never made anything but money."

In the 1950s, chances are the machine was made by White, unless it was made in Japan. See if you can find the plate with the model and serial numbers, as it should give you the country of origin. Most Japanese machines were Singer clones, so a Singer manual should do you. If it's U.S. made, look at some White manuals. The White Family Rotary was made for many years, and any manual for it applies to any of the machines.

Thanks for the info.

After I posted the question (naturally!), I found this page:

...and found what appears to be a perfect match in Deluxe Zig-Zag Model SAMB 2. They want $10 for the download, and that seems reasonable to me. It will be interesting to see what's in the manual.
