My local TSWLTH

My local Jo-Ann's is closing. This is a very nice, clean store, nice employees, great selection of fabric. Their lease expires end of the year and the head honchos decided to not renew. Basically they are a nice walk away from where I live. They are the only one between Ventura and the Bay area on the coast. People drive over 100 miles to come there. There is another location about 10 miles from me, that is trashy, crowded, with no help.

The store help is telling everyone to go online and complain.

Sigh......... But I got some nice flannel to make my first Shawl based on the pattern from Marcus Brothers website.

Ginger; the Joann's near me is closing too, for the same reason. the local indian tribe bought the building a few years back and Joann's (corporate) did not renew the lease after the 1st of Jan. so sad....i will really miss the convenience. Our WalMart is getting rid of their fabric section too. we have a LQS, but some things are cheaper in the other stores or online. sad.....

Geez - our old JoAnn's moved from their old building and have a Grand Opening in the new one on Friday. There aren't that many fabric stores that close to me. I buy a lot online but sometimes you just have to touch it! Judy from Mass

Years ago I used to enjoy going to the JoAnn's. Sometimes for something but most of time to just browse. Then they changed to a craft store with just a third of the store devoted to yard goods.
