My two latest projects

I just uploaded two quilts both of which were group projects, on which I had also finished up by doing the quilting/binding/labeling.

The first one is a Veterans Day quilt, which relatively new quilting group at work put togehter. It was all paper pieced. One of the gals did all of the cutting and printing of foundation paper; five other gals inc. myself put the blocks together. Another gal put the top together, and layered it, and I finished it up. It was presented to the Veterans Day speaker, who happened to be the director of a VA hospital not far from here; he's going to present the quilt to one of the patients there.

The second is a quilt was a team project, too, done by myself and two friends for a fourth mutual friend, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Our mutual friend really loves dogs, and the treatment she first went on made her really sick...we all wanted to do something so I suggested we make a hug quilt for her. I made paper pieced foundations and these two ladies did really, really well considering they had never pieced before!! Who knows, maybe they'll both end up quilting! Anyway, the three of us had a great time picking out the fabrics and sewing them up at my house. We were able to present this to our friend and she just loved it, and was very moved by the fact that the three of us worked on it together.

They're the first few snaps in my Webshots album, if you 'd like to take a look.

Wow, beautiful quilts Irene. The stars on the Veterans Day quilt - are they free motion quilting or ? Absolutely wonderful.

Hi Carl, and thanks for the compliment. The stars are an embroidery design, and were done by hooping those parts of the quiilt and embroidering using my Viking Designer 1.

Irene, both quilts are totally wonderful. The quilt for your friend caught my heart. What an amazingly sweet gift for someone who needs a hug in the worst way possible. Your friends are big-time troopers for working on it when they're non-quilters. All round good work.

Irene, they're both wonderful in completely different ways. :) I love the QOV -- that pattern really set off the fabrics you used. I also love the hug quilt; the hearts made of doggie fabrics are just perfect! :)
