video is particularly cool. I have no idea what the cost per yard would be.

Looks like a new way to wear someone else's advertisement to me.

The fabric tabards the people were wearing in the video looked pretty thick and cumbersome. Somehow I just don't see a quilty use for it, except maybe for art quilts. I mean, I just don't see a good use for it in a bed quilt. It's interesting to see once. Debra in VA See my quilts at

Oh, wow, do I want some of that! I don't know about putting it into a quilt.....well, maybe a WH. Come to think of it, I have a WH in progress that would be great with that fabric!

Oh, I don't know. A kid's quilt that doubles as a nightlight would be clever. It would even be useful for adults if the binding could start glowing automatically when you get up in the middle of the night to visit the bathroom.

And if you're one of those folks who have mirrors over their beds you could have it hooked up to display the time & date, weather forecast, local traffic, and news headlines, all reversed to appear normal in the mirror. :)

The possibilities are endless.

Very cool! I can think of a few applications for something like this, depending upon how thick it is, of course. It would be a real novelty for a teen's quilt. :) It's no doubt pretty expensive.

Oh what fun. How I wish something like that was available back in our Mardi Gras costume days. Polly

Ah, but there are two distinct problems. First is the need for a power source for your quilt, and the other is the fact that the light would keep many people like myself awake.

The power source would either be a wire going into a socket somewhere, or a battery unit somewhere on the quilt. I consider both of them as undesirable due to weight, and an unnecessary added expense, even if I get to design my own light show. Glow in the dark threads and treated fabrics already exist that require nothing other than exposure to light for a few hours to power their glow that would work for the child's "night light" quilt or adult's "don't stub your toe on the bed frame" quilt binding just as well as the new fabric. My DH even picked just such a fabric for a quilt with glow in the dark constellation diagrams on it. I'm just hoping it doesn't glow too brightly and keep me awake at night.

Would be good in a Christmassy Wall hanging. I'm addicted to Christmassy things!

I've got some tiny lights to incorporate in one when I get around to it. The pattern is of a reindeer, but whether I use that or another is a case of wait and see! Trouble is that the lights are greedy with batteries, so limited switch on time!

Wow - wouldn't this be a real advantage to firemen going into a smoky building so they are visible? Halloween costumes for kids (big and small), bikers and joggers at night or early morning, folks trying to change a tire on a busy highway, police directing traffic......
