News from BigBearLady!

I emailed Phyliss, and received this reply: Howdy. Long time no see. So far the fires that they thought would head up to Big Bear have changed direction a bit. Big Bear is OK for now. Of course that can change. As you might remember, I lived in Palm Springs for 40 years. Nine months ago we moved to Yucca Valley, thinking it would be nice to live where it was 10 degrees cooler in the summer. Unfortunately, it is MUCH colder in the winter. That is fine with me, but my husband was like a popsicle! We also had 4" of snow! We have decided to return to our home in Palm Springs in another year. Good thing we didn't sell it! Our house in Yucca Valley has been out of harms way. The homes North of the highway are in danger, but on the South side we are OK. They have made the fire fighting staging area at the Yucca Valley high school, which is only 4 blocks away. You can't imagine how many fire fighters, fire engines, bull dozers and related equipped are here! They even brought in "Hot Shot" jumpers from Carson, NV!! I saw some fire trucks from Kern county California (up north). Please tell everyone hello from BigBearLady (recently got my license plate: BB Lady1) I miss you guys, but life has just kept me really busy. Love to you all, Phyllis (BigBearLady) P.S. Feel free to copy and paste this to the newsgroup

Thanks Susan How very nice to hear from Phyllis - and, especially, to know that they are all right; even if it is only for now. Hope the fires will be under control/burnt out before too long. . In message , Susan Torrens writes
