Ok, so we had a bit of a water issue in the house whilst away over the weekend. DH was cleaning out the room that had the water on the floor, and for some reason one of my quilt pieces was in there. (prolly tucked away to protect it from the exterminator that was here on Friday). As he was moving it into the kitchen, it flipped out of the pile and landed smack dab in the water.
No big deal, I think. It's fabric, it can always be washed. Just a little dirt and water, I can clean it up.
It's a patchwork of siggie blocks, and one of the siggies ran like the dickens. I'm sure I could wash the rest of it out and have it look fairly decent, but I want to know what on earth I did wrong to not get the ink to stay in the first place. It came from someone else, so I have no idea what kind of ink was used...and I did iron the whole thing, thinking that the heat would set in the siggies. Should I have done something else?
I have another quilt top going together with siggie blocks on it, and now I am afraid of those running too! Ack!
And ladies (and gents) please remember to use a pen that will not run off the fabric when it gets wet. Not only is it a pain in the backside, it is so sad to lose that precious signature and note that you worked so hard on putting together for us!
Thanks for any advice you can give!
