ink question

I recently bought a metallic ink pad, half gold, half silver. I tried it out and found the stamp was harder to clean than it is w/ non metallic colors. Is this typical? I just use baby wipes to clean them and they look like new w/ very little effort. W/ the gold & silver I was having to scrub and still didn't get the ink out of some of the crevices. The pad I bought is just the Hobby Lobby brand. Is there really that much difference in brands? Also, I noticed that if I wipe my finger over the met. stamped image the sparkle comes off. Is this typical of met. inks or just cheap ink?

You might try some actual stamp cleaner with the metallic inks. Baby wipes are good, but you have to watch the alcohol content as alcohol can dry out the rubber. I haven't used the HL brand metallic inks, but a lot of times there really is a difference in quality among different brands. Have you tried heat setting the stamped image? The ink may just need to be heat set with a heating tool.

I have a stamp cleaner and the spritz from Stampin' Up. Love the stuff and it smells like roses to me. Anyhow I have found the metallic inks do stay on the stamps and need a more intensive cleaning to get them off. Usually if they are not coming off I leave it on there until I have a day that I just feel like doing some cleaning.

I've had the same issue with metallic inks. I think it's just the type of ink. I really have to scrub my stamps after using them. Some are better than others, though. I have the Encore brand, which I can only find in the Stampin' up catalog now. They used to be at Michaels.
