what stamp pads do you use?

I asked this on a stamping forum but am curious as to what others here use.

I bought some cheapies (only 2 thank goodness) from discount-store-to-remain-unnamed and they bleed through everything. Even through 32lb paper I have for my fountain pen inks. FP inks are also dye-based like stamp pads and susceptible to bleeding and feathering but on my 32lb paper they do not do so at all. But these stamp pads do so terribly.

so what pads do you use? I have an old (like 7 years?) "Vivid" pad that still works very well. I've heard of a couple of "brands" that seem to be similar to Tupperware and Avon in how they are acquired. Not sure I want to mess with that. Can I just call a rep for these folks (Stampin' Up for example) and ask for a product without having to get a demo?

It would be nice if I could just walk into Michael's and buy some nice pads but the one I bought from there (also a cheap one) doesn't seem to have hardly any ink at all!

so... any input would be appreciated. kcat

I have a lot of Stampin Up pads I like, but I also have several pads I've gotten from Michaels. I use the 40% coupon and and get those pads that are shaped like a flower sort of and have wedges of different colors. They have lasted for years and I really like that there are many colors in one pad so to speak.

I use (and prefer) the Colorbox brand that I buy at Michael's. It is a pigment ink. I've had some other types that have a very hard, "dry" pad, but the Colorbox pad is not like that. It is soft enough that you need to remind yourself to not "squash" the stamp down into the pad, but to just tap it a few times.

I use Stampin Up products - but I do have a few other ink pads from elsewhere. I like the making memories brand that you can get at michael's and hobby lobby

- they work well for me. Ranger brand inks are also good - I have a few of those and you can purchase those on line.

I read the two other replies, the gals are referring to Color Box.. I use them .. but I also like Versa Mark pads by Tsukineko. I use the 32lb stock also... and eboss the stamping with powder and dry heat. Hope this helps....

Although I don't use many stamp pads of the ones I do have my Stamp'n Up! pads are my favorite. Some of the others just stay wet too long, Hth s

I use Stampin Up pads for my card projects and really like them. The Stampin Up reps I deal with are happy to take my order over the phone without pressuring me to host a demo. Although I don't mind attending Stampin Up demos occasionally because I usually learn a new technique or two.

I like to use rubberstamps for making cards, so I mostly like to use embossing powder. My favorite Stamp Pads for Embossing are the pigment kind (there a a couple brands) and the colors are very rich.

I'll be signing as a SU rep in a few weeks... you can get a catalog from me and order whatever whenever... and I'll ship to TX no problem. That way you don't have to worry about going somewhere or being pressured into anything... :D

I sell Close to my heart, and I love our ink pads!! They are dye based, but don't soak through the cardstock and there are beautiful colors. The new acrylic stamps are wonderful too...lower cost than before, easy to store in a small amount of space...I love them! If you have any questions I'd be glad to answer them. Colorbox! Thank you! I was trying to remember that name. Yes - that is the brand I definately prefer. They are more pricey, but last forever and are really nice.

I love Stampin' Up, but I am partial because I am also a Demonstrator. I also love VersaMark and Staz-On.

I almost didn't reply since somebody else had already mentioned they were a Demonstrator. Please know that I am not trying to step on any toes. Just participating in the discussion.

It's all good! I personally like the SU inks too...love the containers that fold up and store upside down, so that you can read the label...too cool! Quality wise I think they are comparable to CTMH, which I have to use, lol...but they sure do win in the packaging dept.! Take care, and good luck with your business! Arleen

I have used the Close to My Heart pads and really like them. I also like the fact that you can get matching pens. When I order a new color I usually get the pad, refiller, and pen at the same time. Peggy in NJ
