What do you pack when you go to a crop?

Probably one of the hardest things I've struggled with is exactly what to pack when I go somewhere to crop. I have been going to the LSS for the last few weeks to Friday night crops and this is what I found worked for me after bringing far too much the first time! So here is what I put into my scutto/rolling cart!

A. I packed the paper, cardstock and photos I was going to work on but first: - I tried to pre-plan the pages and used the power layout principles (putting each lo: paper, matching cardstock, embelishments and pictures in a bag/folder together).

B. I packed my embelishments in my scraprack binder (easy since I chose a theme to work on , in this case the baby book)

C. I put extra cardstock in the colors I was going to use into a 12x12 hard plastic holder.

D. I packed my tools:

- Cutterbees,

- Adhesive (2 plus refills)

- Cutterpede

- xacto knife,

- cutting mat

- piercing tool

- CM utility tool (to lift things that I might adhered down and

- a one whole punch

- a white eraser (rubs off extra adhesive if I need to move something)

E. I packed some organizational tools:

- a box (I use al album size box and put the album in there to protect it)I also use it to put all my reusable scraps in. (when you work on a project like the baby album I found it easy to re-use some of the smaller pieces for mats and punches etc that way.

- a small lided plastic box (1 1/2 x 9 x 11 or so) in which I placed the punches and fibers I thought I might want to use and embelishments that didn't easily fit in my binder (little boxes of brads, and clips and so forth.

I'm curious to know how much of a challenge is it for you to pack for a crop and how do you decide what to bring and what to leave at home?

ROFL MC & Kenda both know how much of a challenge it is for me to pack light! LOL But I'm getting better, especially since this group introduced me to the idea of power layouts. So now, I go with...

A. paper, cardstock & photos layered with the power layout principle..I put this in Craft Keepers

B. Tools crafter tool kit scissors paper cutter adhesives

C. Embellishments...I'm getting better at trying to narrow down what embellishments I'll use & what I won't

D. Any stamps & stamp pads if I've planned on using them for a layout.

I don't do a lot of planning ahead on layouts, which probably explains why it's so hard for me to pack light. LOL So maybe if I start planning ahead when I'm getting ready for a crop, I won't have to lug the whole craft room with me!

I am not organized at all!!! My pictures are in current order in a photo box with the dates on the outside of the envelopes that they are in. I bring all of those even though I know I will not be able to get to them. I bring EVERYTHING! I don't have a scrap room so all of my stuff is in my NaNavigator, and 2 Creative Memories Totes, and whatever else I can't fit in those (stuff I just bought at the LSS) is in a bag. I am an over-packer!!!

Is "TOO MUCH" an answer?

I'm always afraid I won't have what I need. So, I do a lot of preplanning of pages too. I think that is why I started a Scrapping group that meets at MY house once a month. I don't have to pack up and go any where. Bwah ha ha ha! And yes everyone doesn't have all the supplies they need, but I'm always glad to share or do trades so they can complete their pages. I even feed them dinner. More or less as a thank you for not having to pack my shit up. hahaha

I didn't use to pre-plan pages, but I sure do now! I try to get the paper, cardstock, pictures, embellishments, and sometimes even my computer journaling all paper clipped together, and usually I plan

10-15 pages to get done. I have more stuff now to haul than I used to, and if I can't get it inside in one trip from the car, it doesn't go! But I do stack it all on my rolling bag. I do bring my whole sticker album, and my sizzix, alphabets and dies, and punches. Extra cardstock, and I have a small plastic three drawer unit I keep my most used tools in, that I can sit on the table while I work and its within easy reach. my Fiskars cutter, and MM scissors are a must! I even bring my scrap folder! I am trying to weed that out..lol I also bring a few small non messy munchies, like mints or gum. Linda C

More that I need. I am getting lighter though since I've started palnning my pages ahead. I use large ziploc bags to hold everything I think I'll need for each LO. I bring my sizzix and dies, tool box, sticker album, paint box and embellishment box. My sister and DD started attending the crops so I bring extra stuff for them to use as they just got started and don't have a lot yet. Sandy

Way too much! I tried to pre-plan some layouts in large zip lock bags and I still ended up taking more paper than I needed.

My problem is I still only get 2 or 3 pages done. How many pages do you get done at a crop? What's the secret to gettting multiple pages finished?

Weeeelll when I go cropping. I plan my pages and put everything I need for a two page LO in a two gallon zip lock. I have the pictures, embellishments, and I make the paperpieces if I am going to use them. I usually take about six zip lock bags full. I take my scissors, cutter, adhesives and if I am going to use something from my Sizzix,I cut them and have them ready. I do all of this before hand because ...when I go to a crop...I visit and talk and shop and oo0 and aww over everyone's work! I always take an album to share. I think the crops are for fun and visiting and sharing...I usually do all my scrapbooking at home alone with no distractions. So going to a crop is Party Time to me!! LOL

I've never been to a crop - there doesn't seem to be many scrapbookers in my area - but I think if I did go to one I would be one of those people who bring way too much of everything!

Paper, punches I think I'll need, Cutterbees, QuicKutz (now) & dies, pens, adhesives, trimmer (most likely either my Cutterpede or Fiskars Euro rotary), photos, embellishments for pages I plan to work on, stickers for same, ruler, eraser, Silent Setter (now), the album I'm working on and of course something to collect my trash in. There may be other things depending on my pages.

I make up page kits - as many as I can. The last crop I went to was 12 hours and I finished 17 layouts. I could have done more but I fooled around a little.

I also bring: adhesive- small Xyron, photo tabs, glue dots, Aleene's scrapbook glue pens and markers extra cardstock metal embellishment box - eyelets, brads, snaps ect. fiber box scissors Cutterpede Exacto knife Perfect Layers cutting mat eyelet tools round and square punches Sidekick Sizzlets dies ruler pencil pen cup for small tools Colluzzle, mat, knife and a few templates - tags and letters sketch idea book

I think that is about it. If I do a good job making up my kits, I can eliminate the embellishment boxes. I usually throw in a scrapbook or two in case anyone wants to see some of my layouts.
