NOT OT for once!!!

Took DS out last night, with the thought of registering him for the summer reading program at the library - it was closed. Went to visit friend in hospital, she was released earlier than they told her she would be. Grumbled a bit then headed out to Walmart with him so that he could look over some craft ideas and clothing ideas.

He picked out a great shirt pattern and some pretty cool fabric to go with it...then he saw the cat and dog pattern....it's a patchwork kitty!!! I'm feeling a bit of deja vu here, so if i posted this, please remind me to take my gingko!! We will be working on the kitty in a few weeks. Told him that I need to clear off the cutting and sewing tables and wash the fabrics before we can start cutting, so he is a little anxious. However, I *did* tell him that I wuld teach him knitting so that he could work on that while I finished projects and tidied the room up a bit for us to work.

Today, I took DD with me "over the mountain" to get DSs supplement, a baseball glove for DH, and to hunt up fabrics for more clothing for the

2 of them. Call me odd, but I like my children to start off the school year with at least 2 things each that I made them (that way I know it will last the school year!!!). DD already has an eye for colors/fabrics as well, even if it doesn't lean in the same direction as my preferences. I am going to make her a retro, dropped-waist dress, and she chose a dark denim with embroidered and sequin hearts for the skirt and jacket, then a lovely (can't believe I just said that), pink shirting for the bodice and sleeves. She picked out a bright yellow print for a jumper (lots of color, so it will go with lots of different tops), and from the clearance section, she chose a muted blue with...ready for this??...moose and trees on it...lol. Granted, it's actually a cute print, but I didn't picture it as a jumper...oh well. Then we went hunting for fleece...alpine and anti-pill fleece were on sale, so that's what we looked at. Again, she shocked me....she has said over and over how she *loves* pink and purple, but that was not what she picked out. Nope, instead she chose a BRIGHT turquoise!!! This is going to be for a longer coat that she can wear with dresses and such since her other warm coat is made for pants/jeans.

Then, I found a blue fabric with orange and yellow flames - the fabric that DS wanted last night for his shirt, but that wasn't in stock at Walmart!! I'm going to do that as a present for him.

Finally, a coworker of DH is expecting her first child. Remembering how DH refused to carry any frilly kind of diaper bag, I'm making Jenelle's husband a "masculine" diaper bag...lol. Black trigger for the main part of it with the pockets being out of a black background fabric with race cars and flamees (he does car detailing and body work). I am making a quilt for Jenelle as well as coordinating the office quilt to her (every office makes a quilt for the employee when they have their first child - we never got one because DS was already born when DH went ot work for them ....oh well).

So...I hae a stack of crafty things, in addition to the great ideas from the group, but had to share about DS and his patchwork kitty and the stash building expedition I went on today...even though it wasn't for quilting, it's STILL stash!!
