oops, sorry, Polly. i hope its ok cuz i am really burned out and cant seem to get my head or body to act right or even close today so i'll copy the report i just sent off to Pati. :)

well i made it home intact and without any excess baggage charges. checking my bags thru all the way from phx helped. when i checked in at phx they werent the right weight but one was over bout the same as the other was under so i stepped away with bags and fixed that. the person who i got was gay, i think. he seemed to enjoy my tale of what i was wearing, lol. i asked if i could board early cuz of all i had to carry. he didnt weigh my carry on but it was sooooooooooo bulky i got some odd looks and odd comments. he said ask at the gate. i started to ask but i got a 'that is too big, it has to fit in that cage to be carried onboard. you have to go back and check it in.'....i already checked two bags. so they told me that i had to somehow consolidate the pillow with one of the bags. easily done. heehee. anyhow when i checked in at air nz in sfo, she asked if i had luggage to check, nope did that in phx all the way thru to nz. :) she never asked if i had carry on. the trolley i rolled up so the stuff was out of her sight and then when i finished i kept my body between the bags and her view. :) whewwwwwwww. that was close. at the gate again i got comments bout the size but i got let on. the damn strap on the black bag with vase in it snapped about ten feet from the plane door. oops. a lady offered to carry it on board for me. i said its really heavy tho. she said if i could carry it, she should be able to handle it too. she was younger and thinner/fitter so i said thank you so much. when we got into the plane she told the steward what happened, he told her to leave it and he'd bring it back to me when all the passengers had boarded and got into their seats. :) i was near the back of the plane but that little bit sure helped me a whole lot. he commented on the weight and i told them no one asked or weighed it and i was on my way home hence the 'lot of stuff' i had to get home. oh oh, that lady said she called me 'in her head' the quilt lady. :)) had to laugh at that one. what a hoot. arrived in NZ 45 mins early, must of been a good tail wind. then dh shows up for that time and there i was meandering thru the airport at my own pace thinking he'd be there an hour after expected arrival time so i didnt need to hurry. argh. oh well. when i got off the plane i asked if there was a trolley nearby but they are all down in baggage claim but here use that wheel chair, its ok. why thank you very much. i sure dont think i'd make it with all i got to carry. :) new zealand is the only airport i've been to that has free trolleys too. they also now have a free cup of tea or coffee as you wait for baggage to arrive. i was a bit worried mine might not arrive. those airline transfers sometimes dont make it on expected flight. whewwwwww. got thru customs and immigration with no worrys and got home around 6:45ish, i think. been a weird day here. cant get to sleep, cant get body out of 'wired' mode like drinking too much coffee. argh. again, oh well.

hope i can get to sleep tonight easier than i'm getting thru today. will add yardage info when i get round to unpicking the 'whatever that word was that pati called it' kimono thingy. should be later this week. pati took pix of me in the thing, front and back. will add them to my webshots page when she sends them to me. :) oh and pix of the two bags i had to carry. omg. never ever again will i try carrying that much onboard. eeeeeeeek. hugz to all from nz, sooooooo glad to be home. jeanne

Are you coming up to Vancouver while in the Seattle area?

Missed you in Houston, but would love to meet up with you if we could.

When are you planning this next trip!

I'll make sure she gets up there!! I know lots of quilt shops in the area, and would love the excuse to drive up there and show her, and meet up with you, of course.
