Very cool! Thanks Carol. I really like the line about paint, houses, and the Mona Lisa. PAT

I think this has to be the MOST unusual quilt I've ever seen- by a long, long shot! Watch the changing pics!

It certainly pushes the envelope of the definition of "quilt". Wow. At first, I thought I was looking at a 2-d appliqu=E9d thingie on a white background... until the closeup of the ribcage popped in and I realized what it really was. On second thought, I wonder if it should be "Wow" or "Ewwww".

Wow, I almost jumped the fence to declare, "That's not quilting. Textile art, yes, but quilting, no." 8^P However I'm really interested in learning where the quilting community as a whole comes out on this. Fer sher, with all the innovations in/ departures from traditional quilting we're going to see some new vocabulary & definitions come out of all this, and it may be far from over. A couple decades down the road when somebody says, "I quilt," exactly what will that mean?

The definition of a quilt is two layers of fabric with some sort of batting/filler (even flannel qualifies) in between with tacks, ties or stitches to hold it all together. There are no 'rules' for the size, shape, use, decorations, manipulations, etc. So, this does match the basic definition even if it really, really pushes it to the limit. Then again, maybe it doesn't push the limit at all???

I like and admire all types and form of quilts/quilting. Some appeal to me more than others, and some even make me say 'what on earth was that quilter thinking'??? But it's all good. I love how quilting has expanded beyond the 'utilitarian bed cover' idea.

And I wish I'd thought of making that skeleton!
