I put the border on this evening, I had a bit of a moment where I put the final strip on right side to wrong side and didn't realise until I'd set the seam, fortunately the stitch length was long enough and the iron relatively cool, so it wasn't a nightmare to unpick.

Howdy!

Wow! Cool. I especially like the way your black strips are so neat and clean and straight.

Anne - that is lovely. Just how wide is that tiny black sashing!!!

it was an easy choice, the book said either lots lighter or lot darker, black was an obvious choice, I take no credit for it!

Thanks, they were initially 2 bundles of 5 fat quarters, I wasn't sure about a couple of the fabrics, but fell in love with them when I opened them up, then when I looked again at the quilt design, I realised it was in one colour, not 3, so I paniced, I wondered if I'd have to do it non random, but I laid it out both ways and preferred the random, I'm really pleased with how it's come out. Thanks, Donna, I've no idea what we will do with it, it's roughly cot quilt size, and it's not going to be used for that purpose, I may end up hanging it on a wall, though initially that was not my intention.

Thanks, funny thing is, up close they are really not all that good, the block is actually 2 half square triangles with the strip in the middle and then squared up, but there was barely any spare to square up, so I compromised too much in places, I'd have had to restitch and awful lot to have done it as well as I'd have liked. It was from a book and I feel the instructions could have been better, pointing out where attention to accuracy was important, and where it was irrelevant as there was both within this design!

Thanks, I'm nervous about quilting it now, I've only done hand, or in the ditch before and this needs more!

cut at 1 inch, so finished it's half an inch, it's actually not technically sashing, the block is 2 half sqaure triangles with the strip between, then set straight with no sashing or anything. When I first looked at it, I thought it was quarter square traingle blocks diagonally set with sashing, which I do wonder if that may have been easier, I've learnt a lot from this quilt, but considering it was a class and from a book, there were a lot of pitfalls that could have been mentioned!
