I had a stack of orphan blocks that were all made in the brights I have collected. I stitched them together so they are now a family. :-) The crazy houses were made when one of my small group members decided to teach us a free form technique. The stars were also a patternless technique...Jan Mullen's I believe. I'll probably use this top to practice on the long arm quilting machine at my local quilt shop. It's a pain in the behind to fit all this stuff together....add some here and there, etc. But now I can feel better about all these blocks being used. I did get my "I Spy" made and delivered last weekend. I forgot to take a picture of it.

Great quilt with lots of surprises to be found in the fabrics! I love any reason to play with new block techniques using similar family fabrics when this is the result. jennellh (@gmail.com)
What an achievement, Kathyl, to get such dissimilar blocks together! The overall effect is great; and someone is going to have a ball just looking at each little bit. That whirlpool is simply gorgeous, as is the Hunter Star. I like others, but those are my favourites (so far >gI had a stack of orphan blocks that were all made in the brights I have
What an adorable, happy quilt that is, Kathyl! I love it! The stars do look like Jan Mullen's style. Be sure to let us see it when you've played with it on the long arm. :)
Thanks Sandy. In order to use all the blocks, I even put in the goofed up star. It's on the left side...a yellow star in a blue background. One arm is a whole lot fatter than the others. Sometimes the instructions don't seem to make sense until you do one wrong. I'll have to get my rear in gear and make some long arm reservations. I have at least three practice tops I can work on.
Fun is the word that comes to mind when I look at this quilt. :)

Thank you for your very kind offer, Pat. I specialize in quilt tops....not quilts. So I'll never be lacking for something to quilt on. But as you know from my whining, my piecing is much better than my quilting, so I have to figure out just which ones to "sacrifice" to the quilting machine. This wacky top wil be a good victim!

Kathyl, I'd never have known that star was goofed up if you hadn't said so! That's the beauty of Jan Mullen's style -- it all looks so wonky and fun that a mistake isn't obvious! :)

Ah gee Pat.....thanks so much! I just view this as a way to give my orphan blocks a home....it tickles me to have someone call it fantastic.
