OT - A few good thoughts and I'm back into quilting

Hi all. Have just been talking to the DH of my BKF (best karting friend) and she is in hospital. I spoke with her on monday when she was in there and hoping to be out today but alas no. She has had a hysterectomy and some of her bowel removed. The op went well but she then had a collapsed lung and we now find that she has contracted a nasty virus. She is a wonderful, gorgeous woman and her family are struggling along without her. Her 13 year old son celebrated his birthday on Tuesday and I manged to get a gift down to him (which made it by Tues morning!) which helped a bit, but any thoughts you can spare for this family would be much appreciated.

On a happier note, I am happily sewing and quilting again. I've just finished a 60" square top for one of the DDs beds (not sure which yet). It's not as big as I wanted it to be originally (I think I miscalculated my ideas somwhere along the lines!!!). It's fairly simple - 6" squares of various brights with some applique hearts and stuff - but hey, it's a start right?

This little fella (well he's not so little) is one of the nicest kids I know. As you can imagine some 13 yo can be right little upstarts, but not this one. We've stayed with them quite a few times and he is, well.....like a boy I'd have raised. Does that make sense? He and his little sis adore their mum ( and dad) and I can only imagine how hard it is for them.

Y'all have done it again and I can't thank you enough. My BKF is breaking out....I mean being released, tomorrow. When I spoke to her today you could tell just in her voice that she was so much better, and she says the doctors are really happy. ((((phew)))) What a relief. She still has to take it way easy but oh my, I am just so happy.

Thank y'all again from the bottom of my heart.
