OT Amish lunch

Today our senior's group enjoyed an outing to an Amish home for lunch. Beautiful area, horses grazing, and picture-perfect gardens greeted us. The widow who provides the lunches greeted us in her yard and escorted 25 of us into her dining room and living room. There she had two LONG tables all set and waiting. I'm going to try to remember all the foods which were served family-style: pumpkin bread and whole wheat bread served with butter, strawberry jam and peanut butter jelly. Then came fruit salad, broccoli and cauliflower salad, baked corn casserole, mashed potatoes with browned butter, zuchini casserole, buttered noodles, baked chicken tenders, and ham loaf. And, at the end, pumpkin chiffon pie or cherry pie with vanilla ice cream and coffee. I may never eat again!! The home was beautiful, and she had one daughter and several other ladies helping her. Everyone had a wonderful time and I'm sure some headed home to take a nap!!

I suppose I could keep this on topic by saying that I saw her Bernina machine...treadle powered....in one corner of the living room. Not a quilt to be seen, though! Of course they might have been in the bedrooms, but we didn't get to see those.
