OT: Boring health update

My blood pressure seems to be stabilizing, a tiny bit on the low side, but = I can happily live with that. Dr. doesn't care if I cut down on sodium or n= ot, but I'm making some changes in my 'home cooking' that nobody will reall= y notice and I think will be healthier for me and DH, and probably for my j= unk-food-scarfing sons too. We already don't eat a lot of processed food. I= cook from scratch and the family eats from scratch -- when I cook. I hate = packaged most things, although when I'm miserable and sick I reach for the = quickest can of beans and a box of Uncle Ben's finest.=20

On the 'wow, my doctor just impressed me for the very first time' theme -- = he really checked me out at the appointment Tuesday and diagnosed the chest= pain, rib pain and general misery in my chest as costochronditis. Rib conn= ective tissue gets inflamed. It's an autoimmune response and I've been trea= ted for it before -- years ago -- with big doses of steroids. I dug in my h= eels and said no more steroids this side of a serious hospital situation an= d he agreed. So we're working on it from a different direction. So far so g= ood.

And that's the whole, boring, long story.

Thank you all so much for the support and love and prayers and all that RCT= Q 'good stuff.' I do love all you guys.

Atta girl, Sunny. What has it come to when we have to be our own First Advocate? Oh my yes. Avoid steroids if you just possibly can. If you can't, then you can't but they have such awful relentless side-effects. And a 'cooking from scratch' funny. Today I had some just beautiful fresh crab meat. I used the quantity of fat and eggs and salt the recipe called for and actually browned my crab cakes in butter. The pure truth ? They were no better than when I use no salt, a stingy bit of egg and brown them in oil. Somehow, you have to find what's best for You (and DH of course). This is too long but I saw a 'soup' recipe demonstrated on tv today that called for 2 1/2 cups of whipping cream. Smooth? probably. Add 17 inches to your waistline and cut 17 years off your life? probably. Polly

Oh, that is good progress. We're so glad to hear of this! Connective tissue issues are a bummer. What tack is in the works for dealing with it?

Thanks for the update, I've been wondering about you for the past few days. Sorry about that inflammatory reaction, those are killers in any form. I'm glad to hear the good report about your Dr., you deserve good care.
