OT: but about craft stuff

Do any of you use a heat gun for embossing or torturing fabric or the like? If so, what brand do you use, where did you get it and does it work well? I've been looking online, but many reviews are so negative. It seems like a lot of the brands out there burn out in one or two uses.

Any suggestions?

Long, long ago, Sunny, I've seen one used. May have been Phillip Pepper on Sewing with Nancy. I believe it was used to burn off the pokies from an embroidered edge. I just now looked through Martha Pullen's Sew Beautiful catalog and don't see one listed. I wonder, as an alternative, how the little heat tool used for gluing crystals on t-shirts would do? or what about the one that children use for drawing on wood? I had one of those when I was knee-high and it was a whole lot of fun. Polly

Sunny, I've had a Uchida brand of heat gun that I used for years when I did paper crafting. It held up well. I got it at a scrapbook store, I imagine.
