Well, Kathyl, you know how it is with us 'evil' smokers..... I'll try my best! LOL (cough, cough)

I'll be praying for a safe trip with no ice and that it won't be too difficult for you. Keep the good memories and happy times foremost in your mind. And take care- we are sending cyber hugs and sloppy doggy-breath kisses to help you thru this sad time.

Thanks Leslie....and to everyone else too! We must do something about that cough! :-) Yeah, I'm one of those who thinks smoking is "evil" but smokers aren't! They are just "under the influence". ;-)

If you really wanted a lot of hot air Kathy you would have directed your request to your government representatives. This group will only give you prayers and a gentle chocolate scented breeze. ;) Have a safe trip.

Good luck, Kathyl! Drive carefully, and don't hesitate to stop and wait it out if things get hairy. :)

Are you a smoker, Leslie? Please don't be offended that I asked ...

I think we're the absolute minority ... I've been trying to quit for about ... what? 10 years now?

I can't even fondle fabric in my LQS or JoAnn's ... if I touch it, I know I'll be leavin' a "smoky smell" ... and that's unfair to others. If I have my girlie with me (which I usually do - if I leave her at home when I shop, it would lead to a mutiny!!) I usually have her around to grab the fabric for me.

That or I lather up with LOTS of hand sanitizer!! But not too often, since I'm still paranoid that I'll be leaving a stinky smell on the fabric.

*sigh* Which is probably why I do most of my fabric shoppin' online. :(

Hugs!! Connie :)

Sadly, yes, I am. I had quit for 13 years- after smoking for 20 years. Then I met and married a smoker and the 'fragrance' drove me crazy. I started smoking about 5 months after we met. Darn him. Now we've separated and I have to quit- again. grrrr!!!

Sending positive thoughts for a safe trip... blowing from up here in Maine wouldn't help very much, so "good vibes" will have more assistance I think.

Well, you tell me what finally works for you and I'll try it!

I was able to quit once (though, since I started back up only 2 years afterwards, I hardly call it "quittin') ... back about 15-16 years ago. And my story is pretty much the same as yours ... my ex smoked and I went right along with it. :(

What do you do when it's time to shop for fabric? Do you touch? Or do you do hand-lotion/sanitzer to kill the nasty smell? I'd love some sort of solution so I can fondle fabric again!!!!

Hugs!! And good luck in quitting - and yes, I mean that!! Connie :)

I figure the fabric in the stores is pretty dirty any way by the time it's manufactured and stored and displayed and there's enough air circulating in the store, so I don't even worry about it. There's other smokers out there and I'm sure they don't think about it either. That said, my nearest LQS- a very small place is 45 miles away and a decent sized LQS is 120 miles- as is the nearest Joann's. I shop mostly online like you. The only thing I have locally is WalMart- and odors and stuff are sure no problem there! Yuck.

We up here in the Inland Northwest are on tap to get heavy winds from the West (meaning coming in off the Pacific more or less) starting tomorrow or the next day. We lost our roof just one month short of a year ago in a high wind blow -- warm wet wind comes over the cold, icy mountains and blows our roof off. I am sure hoping we escape without a repeat. I can't stand to lose any more trees. Or roofs.
