OT: Jenn-Air range/cooktop query

Hello,

After purchasing our Jenn-Air range when our house was being built, I decided that I wouldn't ever use the grill, so I purchased another electric burner cartridge. Fast forward 12 years and now one of the cartridges isn't working. Suffice it to say, I'd rather spend money on fabric than on replacing the broken cartridge. Has anyone ever used their grill to heat food in their pots and pans? Are there any downsides ( besides having to clean the grill components whenever there are spillovers ) ?

TIA,

Many downsides. First, the grill doesn't get hot enough (at least the one on my stovetop) to heat anything in a saucepan. Second, the last time I tried to use my grill (which was, coincidentally the first time as well), I almost burned the kitchen down. Bad idea. I have just covered the grill side with a pretty wood chopping board and now live with two burners. Not what I'd pick, but it works somewhat.
