OT: Lookin' good

Tomorrow is my wedding anniversary. DH and I have been officially married 26 years and were 'in a committed relationship' for almost 7 years before that. To celebrate (and liven up the place) I got a great haircut. My hair has been long and straight for five or six years, all one length, no bangs. Now it's the cutest asymmetrical bob you ever saw. Still no bangs. It's really sort of hot. I love it.

And as long as I'm talking about good things, I'm really close to opening an Etsy store. Mostly it will be small things -- 8x10 wall pieces and little boxes and little bips and bobs. My market research has shown that the market for quilts is such that you seldom make back what you spend on materials. Um, that's not something I can sustain. So I'm ready to jump in. I'll have 15 or so one of a kinds and hope that at least one of them sells. Sometime.

Wish me luck.

I'm not being quiet because I'm out of sorts, but because I'm really sort of busy and need to keep my head out of the computer. I got hung up in Facebook last night and regretted it sorely. If I didn't have a lot of friends who I can keep up with on FB, I'd stop entirely. Grrrrrrr -- it's like cocaine or something.

Well, lots of good stuff being posted from our little group. I'm glad to see some new names and some old names come home and I'll post photos of the stuff I'm putting on Etsy so you can give me feedback and such.

Hugs, Sunny (yes, I'm working on a quilt, but it's slow going right now)

Happy Anniversary to Sunny and her DH, I hope you manage to do something special together.

Good luck with the Etsy store. I have an account ready to set one up, but haven't quite plucked up courage to do so, so well done to you for having the gumption.

I've had an Etsy store for a bit over a year. I probably don't make much over my materials, especially when you figure in Etsy fees, paypal fees, shipping costs, etc. However, I'm clearing out stuff and making enough, even if it's only getting back a bit more than what I spent on fabric years ago. I make things mostly for the joy of making them, and if they sell, they sell. If they don't they get donated eventually. I don't need Etsy to survive, thank goodness. I have found, to my surprise, that the larger items sell quicker. I've sold mostly quillows and lap quilts. The wall stuff doesn't sell much, even if cheaply priced. People look at the wall items and even "heart" them, but seldom buy. I've noticed some other shops seem to be having good luck with table toppers in the 18" square or a bit larger range. I'm planning to up the price on the quillows at some point, because they really are too low, and will wait to see if sales dry up. Probably will, since I finally sprung for a bunch of quillow-sized boxes!
