I think this is what it is called. It is essentially a flat bear that you make a front and a back, and very lightly stuff, so it ends up looking 2-dimensional (think Flat Stanley) rather than a traditional stuffed bear.
I would like to make one for a friend who is expecting a baby in about 6 weeks.
Anyone know of a great free pattern anywhere?

Wouldn't this be kind of a circle for the body, one for the head, two for the ears, long ovals for arms and legs, and then a face? Like a bear cookie cutter shape, but larger? You could applique paw pads and ear middles and sew any sort of face you want.
