OT postage rates up

Just in case you've missed it, I think maybe the postage rates went up this morning. If you're paying bills or writing your congressman, you'll need a

41¢ stamp. That probably means that our online S.E.X. just went up 5%. And furthermore, if you want to really impress your friends, you can type the cents symbol by holding down the alt key and typing 0162. Where was I when somebody decided to re-invent the keyboard? Boy, would I love to give them a kick in the pants. Polly

You are always a hoot Polly. Thanks for the reminder. Like Butterfly, I had no idea that the rates were going up. I found out when I read her message last week. We don't watch the news much, and we don't get a newspaper. Usually DH finds out all this stuff and tells me when he comes home from work. When I asked him why he didn't tell me about it his reply was he didn't know about it either. So Butterfly you were defiantly not alone, and we don't have a good excuse like you do!!!

do you type on a regular keyboard... or a laptop? It should work on any regular keyboard (using the number pad). I've never gotten it to work on my laptop.

The classic ALT codes are Windows-specific......don't work on a Mac or in Linux.

Thank you, pig. I don't know windows from portholes. Some of you will need another way to impress your friends. I'll think of something. Polly =)

There are a lot of specialty characters you can get by holding down the ALT key and typing a series of numbers: ALT 0233 = é ALT 0176 = ° ALT 0188 = ¼ ALT 0190 = ¾

and a bunch more. They are listed in the back of my Corel ClipArt manuals.

On your Start Menu -- go to Accessories... then open the CHARACTER MAP.

You can find a whole slew of fun and interesting characters there. Look at different fonts.... especially Wing Dings and Monotype Sorts and Milestones... if you have them

All kinds of fun little images to use in your text documents.
