This is Deschutes Co Emergency Management with a precautionary evacuation notice UPDATE for the Black Crater Fire near Sisters Oregon.

At 10:00 PM Saturday July 29th there remains an evacuation in place for the Tollgate, Crossroad and Edgington road subdivisions near Sisters. The Red Cross evacuation Shelter for the Tollgate notice is at the Skyline Middle School located at 63555 NE 18th street in Bend OR. The residents for the Crossroads and Edgington Road have been sheltered at the Sisters High School on ORE 242 in Sisters. At this time the fire is still not immediately threatening structures at any of the subdivisions and all evacuations to date have been precautionary for citizen safety. US 20 and ORE 126 remain open to travel however expect congested traffic as fire fighting, emergency services equipment and smoky conditions reduce visibility in the Sisters area. No extreme fire behavior is expected this evening so it is hoped that good progress will be made through the night. This message will be updated sometime in the late morning of Sunday July 30th or sooner if conditions change. We continue to ask evacuees to NOT enter the evacuated areas and strongly urge all citizens to NOT call 911 for fire information. For Fire information call 541- /549-3211 /549-3187 or visit website

I'm at Sunriver right now, just went to Sisters on Thursday. It was very, very hazy. Went to the Stitchin' Post. Great place, think strong thoughts for them re this fire...

Thinking positive and "rainy" thoughts for all of you in the Central OR area! [I taught grade school there for four years back in the middle ages - the early 1960s. Loved the area! Miss the mountains!] Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. You mentioned: "Skyline Middle School located at 63555 NE 18th street in Bend OR" - didn't have "middle schools" when I was there. Think the area has grown tremendously since then. (DUH!) ME-Judy
