OT Still here, update, new grandbaby!

Hi all Haven't posted much all summer as life has been very full and quilting just hasn't fit in anywhere. I think possibly the last time I posted was to announce the birth of baby Sara, back in June. She was grandbaby #25 for DH & I.

On Sept 5th baby Alyssa Marianne was born, #26.

Two more are expected within 3 - 4 weeks.

We have spent a good part of the summer trying to fit in visits to all the kids and grandkids that live a distance away. It was important to get a chance to see the two newest grands that we hadn't met yet. Now we have baby Alyssa to meet, the plan is to head their way this coming weekend. (6.5 hr drive).

Our home based knifemakers supply business has shown amazing, continuous growth, and keeps me quite occupied with parcelling and sending orders to customers and reordering inventory.

We have also devoted a large amount of our spare time to acreage shopping. Over the last year we had made offers on several only to have the deals fall apart before closing. We have now succeeded in purchasing 5 acres of trees, on a ridge with a view over the valley with 2 small lakes. Of course there is nothing on the land but trees and bush, so we will have the winter to dream about what it could be, and try to find contractors to help us turn dreams into reality.

We have done more renos on our current house, which meant that anything in the way got shoved into my sewing room, and I still haven't managed to clear it all out yet.

I've had a couple of uncontrolable urges to quilt, and have satisfied the urge by shopping online. I now have fabric and patterns for quilts for the 5 new babies this year, plus many baby articles. Today I opened a box that just came from Keepsake Quilting with batting for the baby quilts, a fat quarter medley of neurtal/tans and a pattern for a logcabin pumpkin tablerunner. I really need to find my sewing room!

I'm still skimming thru most of the posts everyday, just don't take time to respond very often. Hopefully, as the weather gets colder and the outdoor chores are done for the year, I'll find more time to quilt and take part in the happenings here.

Hugs to all

Congratulations on all the new and future additions to your family. Yikes #26 and counting ....That is something. I am awaiting # 3 anytime now. I can relate to your quilting urges. My DD and first born DGD have just moved back into our tiny house and trying to find time and room to quilt now is a luxury. They will be living with me indefinitely while they look for a home of their own and a job in DD's newly graduated field. Given that we live in a rural area that may be a bit difficult but we will survive this little life adventure. Donna inNWONtario

I often browse through the posts here, rarely respond. But today finds me 'stuck' at the kitchen table, with the laptop, while a 'disaster recovery crew' and plumbers invade my house to repair damage from a leak and the source of the leak. But I've been going through posts, and yours just 'hit a chord' with me.... How did you manage to 'get' 26 grandbabies? I envy you! I love the 7 we have, and wish we had many more. And hearing that you are in beautiful, autumn colored Alberta made me yearn for our trip through your beautiful province on our way to and from Alaska several years ago.

Just thought I'd send a warm 'hello' to you... and wish you luck and blessings with your family. And one more thing... I wonder who will find her quilting room first -- you or me?

Congrats!!!!!! Enjoy them all, and give them lots of cuddles for us too!!!!

Glad to hear you were able to succeed at getting a place even if there is no house. Good luck on building your dream home. Even if you are only occasionally reading and not posting, be sure to keep us up dated on the house progress (and of coarse we don't mind hearing about those grandbabies either)!!!
