OT: surgery followup

Hi everyone,

Thought I would pop in (while I have a lucid moment) and post a quick note to thank you again for all of the prayers and good wishes you have sent my way. The sugery on Friday went well. They took out the tumor and two lymph nodes for testing. I was home Friday afternoon, but slept most of the afternoon and evening, as well as most of the day Saturday. Yesterday the brain fog started to clear but had to spend most of the day trying to manage pain.....I've got a 5" incision and part of it is under my armpit...and it's painful to move the related body parts.

Pathology report will take a few days and the stitches come out next week. Thanks again for all of your support and emails...I can't answer all of them at this point but want you to know how much it means to me.

-Irene

Don't scrimp on those good drugs! You need to rest comfortably (as much as you can) to fully recover. I hope all the reports come back favorably and you are back to your normal self quickly.

So far, so good? Excellent!! Irene, I have a suggestion for comfortable sleeping/resting. You need some support and a gentle 'barrier' to keep you in position. That support can be a firm (cheap!) foam pillow ... the kind with a lengthwise shallow trough of sorts for neck support. Post op, I turned mine so it is parallel to the spine. It gently hugs spine and cradles neck. Place this on your regular pillows and you may find a bit of comfort with out the worry of rolling over on your healing places. We hope to hear from you as your healing progresses. Meantime, my prayers and good wishes continue. Pat in Virginia

Yikes, the armpit incision sounds a bit dicey. Under the circumstances, I'm surprised you decided to post--but ever so glad you did. :-) Thanks for the update, Irene!

Keeping you close.

Irene, it's so good to hear from you. I know many of us have been wondering how you are doing. I'm glad that the surgery went well and hope you are having a good recovery.

You'll still be in our thoughts for as long as you may need them.
