OT Wahoo! It is raining money!

I think I need to go lie down and recover.

9:00 AM DH and kiri depart on an egg and butter run.

10:15 AM DH and kiri come home and inform me that there is over $4000 cash benefit in the food stamp account. We don't get cash benefit so I have to call and find out what is up with that.

10:45 Hang up the phone and do a happy dance. A court decision finding the state of NY at fault for not paying the proper amount of benefits to families with SSI recipients has come down. We have 2 SSI recipients in our family, the money is what they figure they did not pay us when they were supposed to. We get to keep it!

11:30 AM The mail arrives containg a significant amount check from my parents, an interest payment on DH's unpaid severence package from Ames (he refused to sign off and take $60 when they owed him $500), a royalty check from sme of DH's music, and a bank draft for a hundred dollars that was owed me for a painting that was sold and mosly paid for a couple of years ago.

11:35 AM I sit down with a hot cuppa and firm instructions to myself not to hyperventilate.

11:45 AM The doorbell rings. It is the crazy woman's lawyer who tells me that his client was just stunned that I refused to "see reason", and told him to tell me how hurt and betrayed she felt. I pointed out that she was the one who sued. The lawyer laughs. He then tells me he thought he would just drop off the certified check on his way to lunch, and asks when it would be convienient to pick up the dress. I ask him if he would like to sit down wiith a cup of something hot and a cookie while I run upstairs to fetch it. He admres our collection of books very much, and departs with my recipe for almond pretzals and the dress. Leaving the check with me of course.

12:10 PM DH pats my head and tells me to stop dancing through the house because I am scaring the cats.

Excuse me now, I must go and caper wildly!

NightMist Is this what shock feels like?

What a wonderful day!!!!!! Enjoy your new riches....and have a happy holiday season! The part where the lawyer stopped by was great....."sit down and have a cuppa...." I bet he knew who was on the right side of things when he left.

Girley, you should maybe go and buy a lottery ticket.

Have some fun, you surely deserve it!

Ain't that the way it always happens?? With good and bad it seems. When it rains, it pours.

Dancin' with ya.

Nope -- lying down is definitely *not* what you need to do. You need to continue dancing around the house, even if it does scare the cats; they'll recover. ;) Congratulations on a wonderfully profitable day! :D

Debi, it's the time of year for good "caramel".

R/Sandy-- washing new fabric after a delightful trip to 2 local quilt shops today; surely that's good for some karma...or caramel (we pronounce that "carmel"); I rained money, for sure!
